Two things to know before you pick:

  • Most of it is close together: most places in town are no more than 3 km3 from the falls.
  • The Zambian side, around Livingstone, across the border3, adds Livingstone Island, microlights and a steam train.

If you’re still working out where Victoria Falls is located, start there. These places each have their own guide:

Sights and activities, one by one

Each entry says what it is, who it suits, how you get there and what it costs. The summary table further down puts them side by side.

Victoria Falls National Park and the rainforest

Victoria Falls National Park is the main viewing area for the falls on the Zimbabwean side3, and nobody should skip it. International day visitors pay US$58 (checked October 2026) at the main gate; the VIP gate costs US$1741.

It suits everyone, and getting there is easy because the town lies immediately next to the falls3. On the same side stands the bronze statue of David Livingstone, facing Devil’s Cataract4. The Victoria Falls National Park guide covers the trail, and the page on Victoria Falls National Park entry costs lists every gate fee.

Lunar rainbow tours

A lunar rainbow, or moonbow, is a night-time rainbow lit by a bright full moon5 shining through the spray. Victoria Falls is one of only a handful of places on Earth5 where you can see one, around full moon6.

Rainforest moonlight viewing costs international visitors US$1161. It suits night owls and photographers, so plan your dates around the moon.

Victoria Falls Bridge and the Bamba Tram

The Victoria Falls Bridge is a steel arch with a view of the falls from its centre3, open since April 19057. The easy way to see it is the Bamba Tram’s 90-minute Bridge Run, which rolls through Zambezi National Park8.

  • Times: one departure a day at 6:00 AM, back by 7:50am9
  • Price: US$75 per adult, US$40 per child aged 3–129
  • Transfers: Bamba says its price includes lodge pickup9, while Wild Horizons’ version of the tour leaves transfers out8, so check which one you’re booking

How much is a helicopter ride over Victoria Falls?

A helicopter flight over Victoria Falls costs from US$173.25 per person10 (checked October 2026) with Wild Horizons on the Zimbabwe side. Flights depart daily near the Batoka Gorge, and pickup from town and the major hotels is included10.

Your options:

  • Flight of Angels: 12–13 minutes10
  • Zambezi Spectacular: 25 minutes10, listed by Wild Horizons at US$328.0211
  • Longest Wild Horizons flight: 30 minutes10
  • Zambian side, with Livingstones Adventure: 15 minutes from US$205, or 30 minutes from US$380, plus a US$612 aviation fee

If you’d rather book online, there’s a helicopter tour with hotel pickup on the Zimbabwe side.

Microlight flights from the Zambian side

Microlights fly over the falls, the islands and the Zambezi from the Batoka Sky aerodrome, in the early morning and late afternoon13. A short flight of about 15 minutes costs from US$190, and a long one of about 30 minutes from US$38012.

Both carry a US$612 aviation fee. Return transfers from Livingstone accommodation and the Zambian border13 are included.

Batoka Gorge swing, zipline, flying fox and abseil

The Batoka Gorge swing runs from The Lookout Cafe in the Batoka Gorge14, and abseiling happens at the same site as the Flying Fox and Gorge Swing15. The swing, flying fox and zipline all include scheduled transfers and the US$3.0014 park fee.

Wild Horizons pitches it at adventure seekers of all ages, including families and groups21, which makes it the gentler choice next to the gorge swing.

The Stanley and Livingstone Private Game Reserve is a 4,000-hectare Big 5 sanctuary28 about 10 minutes29 from town. It gives you a rare chance to see the endangered black rhino28.

What it costs and how long it takes:

  • A 3-hour drive costs US$10529 to US$15330, depending on the agent
  • A US$730 rhino conservation fee comes on top
  • The night drive with a bush dinner lasts 5½ hours28
  • Children aged 6–11 pay 50%, and younger children can go only on a private vehicle30

Elephant Encounter

Wild Horizons’ Elephant Encounter takes place at its 4,500-acre sanctuary near town and includes a guided trail walk31. Allow 2.5–3 hours31. It runs daily, subject to availability31.

Can you still walk with lions at Victoria Falls?

Maybe not: the booking site victoriafalls-guide.net says lion walks at Lion Encounter stopped at the end of 202032, yet two booking agents still sell them.

Tamuka Travel and Victoria Falls Tours & Transfers both list a walk at US$150 per person, with a minimum age of 14–1533. Lion Encounter is about 18 km outside town, and its current lion activity runs twice a day32.

Victoria Falls Crocodile Park

The crocodile park keeps over 500 crocodiles and over 40 species of snakes34. Its own site gives opening hours of 8:00am to 5:00pm daily, though Google Maps lists 08:30–16:3034.

The Big Tree

The Big Tree is an ancient baobab just out of town3. A 202135 radiocarbon study puts its age at 1,100 to 1,200 years36.

It’s fenced37 against vandals, and Wikivoyage advises taking a cab3 because the bush is full of wild animals. Some falls tours stop there for photos; one allows 20 minutes38.

Devil’s Pool and Livingstone Island

On the Zambian side, Livingstone Island tours leave at 12:30 (Lunch) and 15:3039 (High Tea). The High Tea tour costs US$189 in green season and US$19939 in high season.

Booking from Victoria Falls town, Tamuka Travel charges US$260 for Lunch and US$22040 for High Tea. Read how Devil’s Pool and the island tours work before you book.

High tea at the Victoria Falls Hotel

The Victoria Falls Hotel, which calls itself one of the world’s classic five-star hotels41, serves high tea on Stanley’s Terrace daily from 15:00 to 17:0042.

The Boma dinner and drum show

The Boma is on the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge estate, 3 km from the centre, and runs from 7pm to 10pm43. You get a four-course meal43 with a braai buffet.

The evening adds dancing, drumming and storytelling, and a mopane worm eating challenge43 if you’re feeling brave.

Across the border: Knife-Edge Bridge, Boiling Pot and Mosi-oa-Tunya

Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park is in Zambia, on the south-western edge of Livingstone44. What to look for:

  • Knife-Edge Bridge: built in the 1960s44 to give foot access to the cliffs
  • Boiling Pot: a deep pool in the Second Gorge, about 150 m6 across, reached by a steep footpath
  • White rhino: the park has ten southern white rhinos44
  • Victoria Falls Power Station: a hydroelectric plant in the Third Gorge6, run by Zesco45

Expert Africa’s page on the Royal Livingstone Hotel gives falls entry as US$2046 per person, which hotel guests pay once for unlimited visits.

Chobe National Park day trip

Victoria Falls is only a few km from Botswana50, and many visitors take a day trip to Chobe National Park51. See how the Chobe day trip works for times and border details.

Mosi-oa-Tunya International Cricket Stadium

The Mosi-oa-Tunya International Cricket Stadium in Victoria Falls is nearing completion, with full completion targeted for mid-202752. It holds 10,00053.

  • You can get the KAZA UniVisa at Victoria Falls Airport and Victoria Falls Border56, among other points.
