Victoria Falls is a regional centre for adventure tourism4. Whitewater rafting sits on the town’s list next to jet boating, bungee jumping and mountain biking4.
With Wild Horizons, here’s what the trip covers and what it doesn’t:

If you’re travelling with teenagers, note that Mpala Guest and Adventure Farm calls its own full day family-friendly. Ask the farm about age limits before you book.
For the full low-water run, go between about 10 August and 25 December5. December is the last month of good low-water rafting2.
Rafting is seasonal, depending on water levels1. The river level decides which rapids you run:
| Season | Approximate dates | Rapids |
|---|---|---|
| Low water | 10 August to 25 December5 |
Rapids 1 to 195 |
| High water | 25 December to 10 August5 |
Rapids 11 to 235 |
In February, high-water rafting may still run, depending on river levels2. Rafting is fully back in operation by July2.
You need to be at least 151 to raft with Wild Horizons, and there’s no upper age limit. What matters is whether you can handle a physically demanding day.
The easiest way to reach the river is the operator’s own transfer: Wild Horizons has transfers to and from Victoria Falls town included1. You don’t need a car.
If you haven’t booked a bed yet, read up on Victoria Falls town in full and pick a base inside it.
The bookable trips below both name white-water rafting in their titles. The first starts from Victoria Falls; the second is a half-day run from Livingstone, which lies across the border in Zambia8.
